Rangers star Corey Seager undergoes surgery; ready for Opening Day?

The Texas Rangers are aiming to repeat as World Series champions in 2024, and a critical part of that plan revolves around star shortstop, Corey Seager.

However, after undergoing recent surgery to repair a sports hernia, those plans could be thrown off a bit. At least to start the season.

According to reporters, including 105.3 The Fan's Jared Sandler, Seager will miss a majority of spring training recovering from the surgery, while his status for Opening Day remains up in the air.

Rangers general manager Chris Young said Tuesday that he's hopeful Seager will be ready for the opener against the Chicago Cubs on March 28 at Globe Life Field, expressing that the club's overall "concern level is very low."

Seager, the hero in the Rangers first ever World Series title run, hit .318/.451/.682 throughout the postseason. He had 12 RBI on 21 hits, scored 18 runs, and slugged six home runs.
