DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - After drafting two players at the position in this past weekend's NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys made a major roster change on Wednesday, waiving veteran defensive tackle Antwaun Woods.
ESPN's Adam Schefter was first to report the move.
Woods now leaves a defensive line group that has been under a substantial makeover since the arrival of new defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.
Since Quinn's arrival, the Cowboys have acquired six new defensive linemen, including free agents Brent Urban, Tarrell Basham, and Carlos Watkins via free agency, as well as rookies Chauncy Golston, Quinton Bohanna, and Osa Odighizuwa through the NFL Draft.
In three seasons with the Cowboys, Woods was a reliable defender, but had issues staying on the field, missing 8 games over his last two seasons with the team.
Woods finishes his stint in Dallas with 80 total tackles, eight quarterback hits, four tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks.
With Woods now gone, defensive tackles Neville Gallimore and Trysten Hill will emerge as the likely starters in the middle of the line, Odighizuwa, and Bohanna in a good position to be major contributors going forward.
