The Eagles have requested to interview Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore for their head coaching opening, according to an ESPN report.
Moore, only 32-years old, has coached with the Cowboys since 2018. He started as the quarterbacks coach before becoming offensive coordinator in 2019. The Cowboys were sixth in points in 2019, and even after losing Dak Prescott for the season, they finished a respectable 17th in 2020.
Moore, according to ESPN, recently signed a three-year deal with the Cowboys, but Dallas would be unable to stop him from taking the job if the Eagles did decide they wanted to hire him.
Moore is an interesting candidate. He brings the same concerns a young candidate like Joe Brady would, but unlike Brady, he has plenty of experience in an NFL locker room and has spent three seasons coaching at the pro level — as opposed to really just one for Brady. There is no doubt that the talent Dallas has on offense is impressive and played into some of Moore’s success, but the bottom line is that the Cowboys’ offense has been better than the Eagles’ offense over the last two seasons since Moore took over.
At the very least, interviewing Moore would give the Eagles a chance to pick the brain of a key coach on their biggest rival’s staff.
The total number of known candidates now for the Eagles is up to 10 — and you can check out the full list here.
