DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Looking to improve their depth and rebounding in the frontcourt, the Dallas Mavericks have reportedly explored trade options with the Cleveland Cavaliers involving center Andre Drummond.
The report came from the Athletic's Shams Charania on Monday afternoon.
Drummond, who has been at the center of the NBA trade rumor mill for some time now, is also a buyout candidate for the Cavaliers, should the team be unable to find a trade partner for the 27-year-old.
Should the Cavs elect to buyout Drummond, the Nets and Lakers are reportedly interested in signing him to a short term deal for their respective playoff runs.
For Dallas, Drummond will fill a pair of immediate needs, including paint protection and rebounding, where the Mavs are among the poorest performing teams in the NBA this season.
In 25 games for Cleveland this season, Drummond is averaging 17.5 points, 13.5 rebounds (tied for second in the NBA), and 1.5 blocks per game.
Drummond is owed a total $28.75 million for the 2020-21 season, but comes off of the books as an expiring contract following the conclusion of the season.
