AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- University of Texas men's basketball coach Shaka Smart is leaving the Forty Acres for the Golden Eagles of Marquette.

Smart was officially announced as the new head coach of the Golden Eagles on Friday afternoon, replacing Steve Wojciechowski.

During his six years at UT, Smart was 109-86 overall and 51-56 in Big 12 play. At best, the Horns finished third in conference standings and only three appearances in the NCAA tournament - including this year's loss to 14th-seeded Abilene Christian.

Smart had two years remaining on his Texas contract, which was worth more than $7 million in guaranteed money.
