Cowboys DE Marshawn Kneeland suffered torn meniscus vs. Steelers

The Cowboys have already been decimated by injuries this season and the team lost two more key players to injuries in Sunday night's 20-17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Cowboys' EVP Stephen Jones said Monday on 105.3 The Fan that starting left tackle Tyler Guyton is "day-to-day" due to a knee injury he suffered in the second quarter. Unfortunately for Dallas, defensive end Marshawn Kneeland is dealing with a more serious knee injury.

"Guyton was trying to play last night. I think he's going to be day-to-day," Jones said on the K&C Masterpiece. "(On) Kneeland, we got our fingers crossed that we get some news that it's not (season-ending)."

The football Gods recognized the Cowboys crossing their fingers and rewarded them with the news on Monday afternoon that Kneeland won't miss the rest of the season.

According to multiple reports, Kneeland suffered a partially torn meniscus and is set to have arthroscopic surgery to repair the injury. Todd Archer reports that Kneeland could be out 4-6 weeks and is likely headed to injured reserve.

Kneeland was injured on the Steelers' first possession while attempting to tackle Steelers quarterback Justin Fields. He couldn't put any weight on his right leg and needed assistance from the Cowboys training staff to get off the field. Kneeland was eventually carted to the locker room after being examined in the blue medical tent and was initially deemed questionable to return before being ruled out for the rest of the night.

Dallas entered the game without its top three pass rushers as Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence, who suffered injuries in last week's win over the New York Giants, and Sam Williams, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in training camp, were all unavailable.

Carl Lawson, Tyrus Wheat and Chauncey Golston were the only other defensive ends available to the Cowboys for the rest of the game.
