DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Cowboys stated last week that they hoped to get the ball into the hands of their change-of-pace back Tony Pollard more often, and they did just that in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Chargers.
Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore deployed a more balanced attack against the Chargers than they did against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers stout run defense in Week 1 and made good on the team's promise to get Pollard more involved.

Cowboys starting running back Ezekiel Elliott out-touched Pollard 18-16 in the game, but Pollard had 109 yards rushing yards on 13 attempts to Elliott's 71 yards on 16 totes. Pollard also outgained Elliott 37-26 in reception yards, while both backs scored rushing touchdowns.
By comparison, Elliott out-touched Pollard 13-7 in Week 1. Meanwhile, quarterback Dak Prescott attempted 27 passes against the Chargers, a whopping 31 fewer throws than he made in Week 1.
So what's the plan for Pollard moving forward? Cowboys VP Stephen Jones was asked about the third-year back's role during his visit Monday with the K&C Masterpiece on 105.3 The Fan.
"He's a dynamic player. He's a great complement to Zeke (Ezekiel Elliott). He's got the skillset to where he can actually be a legit slot receiver if that's what's needed from him on a particular formation, on a particular play," Jones said. "As you've seen, we had Zeke and Tony in there at the same time and I think it's a great combination in terms of making the defense make some tough choices. But he is a guy that as we move forward, every defense is different in terms of how you want to attack them. But the common theme here is that anybody in the organization will say that he deserves to get his touches."
