(SportsRadio 610) - The Texans are 2-0 in the preseason after Friday night's 24-20 win over the Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams.

These are some observations from the game.

1. I enjoyed the late Friday night start. Sign me up for more of those 9 p.m. Friday night preseason games.

2. An offsides on a 4th-and-two punt is as bad of a penalty as you can have, preseason or not.

3. Nico Collins has been putting in A LOT of work in camp and it was nice to see him make a couple of plays on the first drive.

4. Brevin Jordan having to block too much in a real game isn’t something that this team should want or need. However, with Pharaoh Brown and Anthony Auclair banged-up this is a good opportunity to give him a chance to get some of those reps.

5. Derek Stingley is going to be the truth. We saw it at LSU, we’ve seen it in camp, we’ve seen it in the preseason and we will see it on Sundays.

6. Could you imagine if Max Sharping ever had to line up against Aaron Donald in a game? He nearly got Mills killed on the Texans' second offensive drive.

7. Jonathan Greenard and Roy Lopez are two players with the arrow pointing up after great 2021 seasons, both had a sack.

8. The first-team defense looked good in the first quarter, the offense wasn’t. It’s very easy to see the defense improving this season. The offense is very concerning. Very. There aren’t a lot of new offensive faces.

9. Marlon Mack has a 2021 Phillip Lindsay floor and 2021 Mark Ingram ceiling. I cannot figure out what this is going to look like when the games count or how much we are going to see it.

10. The first-team offense couldn’t look any worse than they have two games into the preseason.

11. Rookies Kurt Hinish and Thomas Booker both made plays again. I’d love to know exactly what this coaching staff thinks of the defensive linemen at this point, especially Ross Blacklock, who hasn’t flashed.

12. The catch by Phillip Dorsett at the end of the first half was massive. Davis Mills, who was really bad up to that point, needed something positive to happen.

13. The Dorsett grab made the impressive TD catch by Collins possible. It was good for Mills to end on a positive.

14. Teagan Quitoriano did a helluva job finding the end zone after a holding penalty.

15. The Texans rested Dameon Pierce along with Brandin Cooks. That tells you all you need to know about what they think of Pierce.

16. Blacklock has a strong chance to not make this team.

17. I was getting multiple messages saying/asking if Kyle Allen was better than Mills. Goodness. Can the real season just start already?
