Texans safety Lonnie Johnson Jr. returned to practice Wednesday in a limited role after missing the season-opener with a thigh injury.

Johnson did not participate in practice last week and had been ruled out of the opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars ahead of the game.

He is expected to play a key role for making plays in the secondary, this season along with Justin Reid and Eric Murray.

Also on the Texans' injury report Wednesday: tight end Pharaoh Brown did not participate in practice with ankle and shoulder injuries; cornerback Desmond King II and kick returner Andre Roberts missed practice with knee injuries; and LB Kevin Pierre-Louis, who did not play in opener with a thigh injury, also missed practice.
