Astros' Jose Siri makes impressive leaping grab at Minute Maid Park center field

(SportsRadio 610) - The Astros appear to have found their answer at center field.

Since trading Myles Straw to Cleveland last year, the Astros have gone with some combination of Jake Meyers, Chas McCormick and Jose Siri at center. With Meyers suffering a torn labrum challenging a fly ball against the Chicago White Sox last year in the ALDS, it's left the Astros with a McCormick-Siri platoon, similar to the Meyers-McCormick platoon that preceded it.

But 10 games into this season, Siri just looks like a natural out there. He's easily the better athlete compared to McCormick, and could give Meyers a run for every day center fielder even when he gets back from injury.

Check out the ground Siri covers to catch this fly ball by Los Angeles Angels catcher Max Stassi in left-center during the third inning of Monday night's home-opener at Minute Maid Park.

Both Siri (.345) and McCormick (.320) entered Monday's game doing well at the plate.

It's defensively where Siri really stands out. As of Monday, he was tied with five others for the lead in outs above average (2) and runs prevented (2), according to Baseball Savant.
