White Sox infielder Elvis Andrus recorded his 2,000th career hit on a single to right field off Giants right-hander Logan Webb during the fifth inning of Wednesday's matinee game at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Andrus celebrated with a flip of the bat when he watched the ball get past Giants second baseman David Villar's outstretched glove.

The White Sox crowd gave Andrus a standing ovation when the milestone was posted on the video board. Andrus becomes the first player to record their 2,000th hit in a White Sox uniform since Juan Pierre in 2011.

Andrus, 34, spent the first 12 years of his career with the Rangers, where he compiled 1,743 hits. He was traded to the Athletics in 2021 and spent 1.5 seasons in Oakland before being released. He quickly signed with the White Sox and spent the final two months of the 2022 season on the Southside.

Chicago re-signed Andrus to a one-year, $3 million deal to be their second baseman in 2023.
