AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Westlake continued its winning ways Friday night, delivering a decisive 77-0 win against Del Valle on Homecoming night for the Chaparrals in their regular season home finale.
Westlake (8-1, 5-0 District 26-6A) got the scoring going early with two quick touchdowns by Grady Bartlett - just part of the 49 points the Chaps put on the board by halftime.
Westlake will finish its regular season run on the road next Friday, with a pivotal matchup at Dripping Springs; with a win, the Chaps can claim the district championship outright.
The playoff picture in 26-6A also gained a little more clarity Friday night, with Austin High notching a win against Bowie. In the state's 6A classification, school enrollments are used to determine who falls into Division I and Division II - meaning Austin High and Dripping Springs, with their lower enrollment figures, will fall into the Division II bracket, leaving Westlake and Lake Travis as the Division I representatives.
