AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- What do you wish for when you have three state titles to your credit? A fourth.
The three-time defending state champion Westlake Chaps are set to open up their 2022 campaign Friday night at home, welcoming the Ridge Point Panthers out of Missouri City to Chaparral Stadium.
With three straight state titles in division 6A, the Chaps are riding on a 40-game winning streak - dating back to a 2019 loss to cross-district rival Lake Travis, when the Cavaliers pulled out a 26-25 win.
The Panthers are no slouch, either - going undefeated in district 20-6A last year with an appearance in the regional final, falling to Atascocita.
2022 will also mark a season of firsts for the Chaps, with defensive coordinator Tony Salazar taking the reins as head coach following the retirement of Todd Dodge.
