(SportsRadio 610) - Yordan Alvarez has been activated from the Astros' 10-day injured list after nursing a hand injury and is expected to be the designated hitter in the second game of their doubleheader against the New York Yankees.
Alvarez has missed seven games since going on the IL on July 10 with right hand inflammation. He will miss an eighth game when the Astros open the doubleheader Thursday against the Yankees at Minute Maid Park.

He practiced hitting Sunday for the first time since landing on the IL.
Despite his recent absence, Alvarez still leads baseball with an OPS of 1.058. His 26 home runs ranks fourth in baseball, but all three players ahead of him have played in at least 14 more games with at least 70 more at-bats.
The Astros (59-32) enter this doubleheader with the second-best record in the American League behind the Yankees and the third-best record in baseball.
