NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The 2020 TCS New York City Marathon has been canceled because of the coronavirus, officials said Wednesday.
The marathon, which was scheduled for Nov. 1, was canceled over "coronavirus-related health and safety concerns," event organizer New York Road Runners said in a statement.

Officials said there are concerns that the event could pose a risk to runners, spectators, volunteers, staff and community members.
Registered runners will be contacted about the cancellation by July 15. They'll have the option to claim a refund or defer their entry to a future year, New York Road Runners said.
