Today, July 19, is National Ice Cream Day. The day is a part of National Ice Cream Month, which was created by President Ronald Reagan in 1984.
According to the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA), Reagan called for Americans to observe these events with "appropriate ceremonies and activities."
IDFA reported that it partners with Research America to study U.S. ice cream data. Most ice cream is made March through July, with July being the busiest production month for ice cream makers. Studies show that nearly two-thirds of Americans rank vanilla as their favorite ice cream flavor.
