The catch of the day is not edible.
A Massachusetts couple made a startling discovery while magnet fishing off a bridge.
The man and woman reeled in a loaded firearm covered in mud as they threw a magnet behind the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Jamaica Plain, reported the New York Post.
Prior to fishing out the gun out of Scarboro pond, the man and woman noted their magnet made contact with “something heavy,” the Boston Police Department said in their report.

Due to the dirty condition of the weapon, police were not immediately able to determine the make and model of the revolver. It was later turned over to the Ballistics Unit for further testing, the police said.
While the identity of two individuals has not been revealed, the investigation is still ongoing, a Boston PD spokesperson told the Post.
Interestingly, another person found a grenade while magnet fishing in Wisconsin earlier this week.
On Monday, Beaver Dam Police confirmed that it was a real grenade and noted it could still be live.
“After inspection of the grenade it was determined that it was real and potentially “live” with the possibility that it could detonate under the right circumstances,” the police said in a Facebook post.

Authorities shut down the bridge over the dam for two hours as the grenade was “removed, disposed of properly, and rendered safe by the Dane County Bomb Squad.”
Moral of the story is to be very careful when magnet fishing!
