As protests escalated for the sixth day across the nation over the death of George Floyd, CNN captured the emotional moments of the late George Floyd's brother, Philonise Floyd, as he spoke for the first time to the Minneapolis police chief through a reporter.
In a heartbreaking interview on Sunday night, the brother of George Floyd, who died in police custody this week in Minneapolis, asked through reporter Sara Sidner if the other three officers involved in restraining Floyd would be arrested.
When Minneapolis Police Chief Medaria Arradondo was told the question was from the Floyd family, he removed his hat before answering. "Silence is an action – you're complicit. You're complicit," he said.
"To the Floyd family, I want you to know that my decision to fire all four officers was not based on some sort of hierarchy," he said. "Mr. Floyd died in our hands and so I see that as being complicit."
Floyd's brother, as well as the reporter, were visibly moved, with the reporter saying she had never experienced such a moment in her years of covering protests.

This was the first direct communication the Floyd family has had with the police department.
"Being silent or not intervening, to me, you're being complicit," Arradondo said. "My decision to fire all four officers was not based on some sort of hierarchy. Mr. Floyd died in our hands."
