A new cluster of coronavirus cases in a county in West Virginia have been linked to recent trips to Myrtle Beach, according to health officials.

The Preston County Health Department announced three people have tested positive for coronavirus, reports WBTV.

Officials are currently awaiting results for multiple other tests.

According to PCHD, the individuals who tested positive all recently took trips to Myrtle Beach in South Carolina.

The department is asking residents who recently traveled back from trips outside of the county, including Myrtle Beach, to self-quarantine for 14 days.

They also advise recent travelers to wear face masks in public and keep interaction with other people to a minimum.

Last week, Myrtle Beach Mayor Brenda Bethune extended the COVID-19 emergency declaration for the city.

The extension was based on an increasing number of cases both locally and nationwide.

According to information from the city, Horry County was declared a hot spot for the virus by the state's Department of Health and Environmental Control.
