Parties Reported at Universities as College Football Returns

As more and more coronavirus cases come up at colleges across the country, some students are getting in trouble for hosting parties during the pandemic.

NBC News reported on photos and videos allegedly showing students attending large parties with few face masks and no social distancing guidelines. These clips coincide with the return of college football at Florida State University and the University of Kansas.


A video surfaced on Twitter that showed dozens of students in FSU attire, drinking without masks in Tallahassee, Florida.

Several pictures and videos were shared from the University of Kansas students gathered at a house party near the school's stadium. In the video, students were crammed together while cheering on a front porch of a house. Based on the photos, most of the students were not wearing face masks.

NBC News shared that Florida State, Tallahassee police, the University of Kansas, and Lawrence police did not comment.

As schools across the country continue to see cases climbs, different states are implementing new suggestions.

The Ingham County Health Department in Michigan is asking all Michigan State University students living in East Lansing to self-quarantine after hundreds of people affiliated with the school (mostly students) tested positive for COVID-19.

In a post on Twitter, the Health Department said 342 people connected to the school have been diagnosed with the virus since August 24.
