President Trump Denies Asking to Be Added to Mount Rushmore

President Donald Trump denied a report that he had a White House aide find out what the process was to add his face to Mount Rushmore, but says his addition would be a "good idea."

According to a report from the New York Times, the 45th President wanted to know more about how he could fulfill his "dream" to join the first, third, 16th and 26th presidents on the colossal granite sculpture in South Dakota.

Trump stated, "This is Fake News by the failing @nytimes & bad ratings @CNN. Never suggested it although, based on all of the many things accomplished during the first 3 1/2 years, perhaps more than any other Presidency, sounds like a good idea to me!"

It mentioned a story from 2018 that Noem told to the Sioux Falls Argus Leader, when she was running for governor. She described a conversation she had with Trump in the Oval Office about his "dream" the first time they met.

"I started laughing," she said. "He wasn't laughing, so he was totally serious."

"He said, 'Kristi, come on over here. Shake my hand, and so I shook his hand, and I said, 'Mr. President, you should come to South Dakota sometime. We have Mount Rushmore.' And he goes, 'Do you know it's my dream to have my face on Mount Rushmore?'"
