Rioters protesting the death of Minneapolis resident George Floyd destroyed a bar owned by a black former firefighter.
Korboi Balla bought the bar with his life savings and was planning to open it before the coronavirus pandemic, reported the Epoch Times.
While the COVID-19 crisis closed businesses across the country, Balla made a plan to reschedule his opening date to June 1.
CBS News was filming a story at the bar when looters entered through the back of the business and tried stealing Balla's safe.
"I don't know what we're going to do," Balla said. "It hurts, man. It's not fair, and it's not right. We've been working so hard for this place. It's not just for me, it's for my family."
Balla's wife Tywanna said that the bar was not insured. She wrote an emotional post to her Facebook page and provided pictures of the damage.

A bystander's video showed officer Derek Chauvin kneeling on Floyd's neck while he was handcuffed. The video captures Floyd begging for help and was heard telling officers multiple times, "Please, please, please. I can't breathe."
Several protests have broken out across the country since the video went viral - turning violent in Minneapolis.
