A restaurant has reversed course after initially stating it would be defying state health guidelines in regards to the ongoing spread of COVID-19.
After two-months of closures due to the coronavirus pandemic, restaurants and bars in Ohio were given the go-ahead to resume indoor dining operations under one condition -- they were required to follow protocols and guidelines set by the Ohio Department of Health for safe dining.
While most establishments happily obliged, one restaurant in Berea put up a sign stating it would not adhere to the rule that staff must wear face masks.
Mike's Bar & Grill on Front St. posted the following sign on their door:
"Notice: To better service our customers, our staff will not be wearing masks. If you have a problem with this, please visit us at a time when you feel safe to come out."

The Ohio Restaurant Association issued guidelines that stipulated face coverings must be worn by employees (with a few health exceptions) that cover the mouth. Customers were encouraged to wear coverings unless eating and drinking.

"COVID-19 spreads mainly from person to person through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs," the website reads.
KYW Medical Editor Dr. Brian McDonough was quite blunt about wearing masks stating, "Frankly, if you don't wear a mask, you're not being really bright, because that is your best protection right now," McDonough said. "Make sure you reduce the spread to others and you also decrease your chances of getting that droplet spread to you."
