Due to the restrictions imposed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Hollywood Studios announced that the Halloween Horror Nights events will be canceled for 2020.

The theme park shared the news on social media writing, “this pain will be temporary,” adding that Halloween Horror Nights “will come again.”

However, the statement explained that the decision will allow workers to focus on providing a better and safer experience for the regular park activities.

It also comes on the heels of Walt Disney World’s cancellation of their annual Halloween event, “Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party," last month.

“We know this decision will disappoint our fans and guests. We are disappointed too. But we look forward to creating an amazing event in 2021," Universal added.

The annual Halloween extravaganza usually spans a month starting in September and boasts plenty of scares and thrills through its elaborate haunted house attractions.

The 30th edition of HHN was set to kickoff starting September 10 through November 1.
