Kansas City, MO – The City of Fountains is set to play host to the first in-person Navy Week since February of 2020. Navy Week is a series of outreach events held nationwide to reach areas where there isn't a large Navy presence, like the KC Metro.

Navy Week takes place June 28 to July 4 and concludes with performances by the Navy’s Blue Angels at the Kansas City Air Show, held this year at the New Century Air Center in Gardner, KS.

"This will be the first time Kansas City has hosted a Navy Week since 2015, and the sailors are looking forward to interacting with the citizens of Kansas City and their neighbors,” Commander John Fage, director, Navy Office of Community Outreach, said in the statement. “They're excited to share their experiences and to show everyone why the Navy is so important to the American way of life.”

During Navy Week there will be various events held in Kansas City: Navy Rear Admiral Francis Morley, director of Navy International Programs, will be meeting local business owners, education, and government leaders at various ceremonies.

There will be a flyover and a parachute jump into the stadium of the Kansas City Royals, and Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas will make a proclamation received by Morley.

The Navy is planning on hosting 13 different Navy weeks throughout 2021 and hopes to reach more than 60 million people countrywide. Kansas City last hosted the event in 2015.
