KANSAS CITY - The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has identified another possible measles exposure site: Wichita's Eisenhower National Airport.
The KDHE says anyone who was inside the airport Friday evening May 2, between 6:15 p.m. and 9 p.m. should watch for symptoms of measles up until the end of Friday, May 23, especially if you are not vaccinated and have not previously had measles.
If you are not immune, the KDHE says to consider staying home to prevent the spread of the disease. They add if you have any questions about your health or your immunity status, contact your healthcare provider.
A Sedgwick County child between 5 and 10 years of age was the county’s first confirmed case of measles since 2017. The county health department asks anyone who visited Carnicerias El Guero Grocery Store at 524 West on April 29th between 6:30 and 10 p.m. to monitor for symptoms through May 20th.
Meanwhile, the KDHE and the Reno County Health Department are confirming a positive case of measles in a Reno County resident. The agencies say the case is not associated with any of the U.S. measles outbreaks and does not represent community transmission in Reno County.
The agency says a possible exposure site has been identified at the Hutchinson Public Library, on Saturday, May 3 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.
The KDHE has identified another possible exposure at B&P Auto Parts in Cimarron, in southwest Kansas. The dates were Friday, May 2, Monday, May 5 and Tuesday, May 6.
