A second civil lawsuit against the St. Louis City Police Department has been filed by the owners of Bar:PM, the gay bar officers crashed into two years ago.
This lawsuit is on behalf of owner Chad Morris, the owner who's criminal charges were just dropped on Halloween.
"We've now filed a lawsuit on behalf of [Morris]" says their attorney Javad Khazali, "who was the person who was beaten up and criminally charged for almost two years."
Morris's criminal case was dropped on Halloween, after the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department failed to share texts and other required evidence with the St. Louis City Circuit Attorney's Office. Morris was accused of assaulting an officer.
The previously filed lawsuit is on behalf of Morris's husband, James Pence, who was detained the night of the crash. Khazali says its unlikely both lawsuits get combined, with Pence's lawsuit already set to go to trial in February.
The St. Louis City Police declined to comment.
