Kansas City, MO – A powerful winter storm blasted into Kansas City in the early morning hours of Thursday and continued through much of the day. The snowfall amount set a record for the day, according to the National Weather Service.

By 2pm a total of seven inches had been officially measured by the NWS, though the depth of snow varied across the KC Metro, due to high winds.

The storm wreaked havoc along some stretches of interstates and highways in and around Kansas City due to the amount of snow. Numerous wrecks and slide-offs snarled traffic for a time, blocking and stranding drivers.

By 2pm, the NWS had cancelled the Winter Storm Warning. And the thoughts of many - Where are the best sledding hills in Kansas City?
