KANSAS CITY - The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers District 837 in St. Louis have rejected Boeing's latest offer.
IAM workers overwhelmingly voted against the proposal which included a 20-percent general wage increase over four years and a 5-thousand-dollar ratification bonus, plus more sick and vacation time.
Boeing's Air Dominance vice president and general manager and senior St. Louis site executive Dan Gillian released statement to KMOX saying:
“We’re disappointed our employees voted down the richest contract offer we’ve ever presented to IAM 837 which addressed all their stated priorities. We’ve activated our contingency plan and are focused on preparing for a strike. No talks are scheduled with the union.”
The current contract ends today (Sunday). This follows a seven day cooling off period before a strike would begin
