KANSAS CITY – Another icon of years past is about to have its final curtain call, as the historic TWIN Drive-in Theatre in Independence is set to close.
In a social media post announcing that November 17th will be their last day, B & B Theatres says while deeply disappointed, they were “unable to reach a feasible agreement with the property’s landlord, whose rent demands have become unsustainable for continued operation.”
The final two weekends at TWIN Drive-In will include Goonies and Jurassic Park, and Grease and Dirty Dancing on November 8-10. On November 15-17, the movies will be Goonies and Jurassic Park, and Elf and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.
The closure of the TWIN Drive-In leaves just the Boulevard Drive-In Theatre in Kansas City, Kansas, as the only remaining drive-in theater in the Kansas City Metro. Boulevard just closed for the season a couple weeks ago, but will be open for its 75th season of movies in April of 2025.
