Kansas City, MO – Ford is planning a major investment across three states to build more electric vehicles, which includes the Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo, Missouri.
In a release from Ford, the automaker says it is investing $95 million and adding 1,100 new union jobs for a third shift at the Kansas City plant to increase production of the Transit and the all-new E-Transit EV.
In total, Ford says it will invest $3.7 billion in three states, and will convert about 3,000 temporary workers to full-time status with benefits, adding 6,200 factory jobs in Missouri, Michigan and Ohio as it prepares to build more electric vehicles and roll out two redesigned combustion-engine models.
Missouri Gov. Mike Parson said in a statement: “Today’s announcement is great news for our state. For more than 70 years, hardworking Missourians have assembled iconic Ford vehicles."
A factory near Cleveland will be expanded so it can build an unidentified new electric commercial vehicle, with 1,800 new jobs.
And in Michigan, the company will add 2,000 jobs at three assembly plants as well as another 1,200 at other facilities.
