KANSAS CITY – The Eleven may not be able to control themselves.

Jonathan Wier is returning to KMBZ Radio and the Kansas City airwaves! Beginning Monday May 19th, Wier will join Jayme Monacelli on Midday 10a-2p Monday thru Friday.

Who is Jonathan Wier and how did he get here, again? Glad you asked.

Jonathan Wier grew up in St. Louis with the radio always on. Whether it was Jack Buck and Mike Shannon calling Cardinals games, his dad tuning into Coast to Coast AM late at night, or morning zoo crews cracking jokes in the family station wagon — radio was always in the background.

At 20, he entered a contest to host a show on 97.1 KFTK and won. It was just a four-week gig, but it lit the fuse.

While working on the railroad, he enrolled at Lewis and Clark College in Illinois, where he took over the campus radio station — hosting the morning show, directing programming, running music, and doing imaging.

Laid off from the railroad, he landed back at 97.1 KFTK as a producer for The Dave Glover Show, where he learned the craft of personality-driven talk radio. From there, he moved to Florida to co-host The Drive Time Happy Hour on WSKY and host his own weekend show.

That led to a full-time hosting job at 98.1 KMBZ in Kansas City, where The Jonathan Wier Show ran from 2012 to 2019, finishing #1 with adults 25-54.

He then moved to Boston to host mornings on Country 102.5 WKLB. Despite being new to country radio, the station quickly rose to #2!

Now, Jonathan is back in Kansas City — and back at KMBZ Radio — and is ready to bring the same energy and connection that’s driven him from the start.
