KANSAS CITY - New mobile surveillance cameras are popping up around Kansas City, specifically placed in areas where crime has been on the rise, like the Crossroads.
Commonly known as "lot bots," the trailer features a utility type metal box sitting on top of the trailer frame, below a set solar panels, and a pole, nearly as tall as a street light, with cameras, sensors and speakers on top.
Those cameras offer 360 degrees of surveillance and a monotone voice from the speakers says "you are being surveilled."
Mayor Quinton Lucas took to X to say that the city rolled these out in an effort to deter crime in those areas and ensure a safer and more responsive environment.
