KANSAS CITY – The Kansas City Council has voted to transfer animal control services from KC Pet Project to the Neighborhood Services Department.
KC Pet Project has overseen animal control services since September 1, 2020. With the vote passing, responsibility for these services will shift to the Neighborhood Services Department by the end of the year. The change coming after some complained about how well KC Pet Project was handling animal control.
KC Pet Project argues that returning control to the city is an expensive step backward. KC Pet Project's contract with the city was set to expire April 30.
