KANSAS CITY - Mayor Quinton Lucas joined Kansas City’s Morning News today, where he talked about the support locally for Ukraine, following the contentious meeting between President Trump and President Zelenskyy.
Lucas also talked about the American Royal's World Series of Barbecue, which is currently held at the KS Speedway, saying it needs to come back to the West Bottoms in Kansas City and that “he’s working on it.”

The American Royal broke ground on a new facility in Wyandotte County in 2023. It is expected to open in 2025 or 2026.
The American Royal is holding its Backyard BBQ & Steak Cook-Off event this month at its facility in the West Bottoms.
Lucas also updated the ongoing stadium saga with the Chiefs and the Royals.
