Among the next group eligible for the vaccine - teachers and school staff, in both public and private schools.

Moving to Phase 2 - Tier 3 under the plan will make about 550,000 more Missourians eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine. In addition to teachers, childcare faculty and staff; those in the IT, telecom, tech, transportation, communications, and energy sectors; government workers; critical food and ag workers: and others.

"With all of these phases we estimate that over 3.5 million Missourians will be eligible to be vaccinated," Parson says. "Of those 3.5 million, many have already been vaccinated and approximately 40% will not seek a vaccine."

Parson says by waiting until March 15, health departments and counties will have time to get vaccinators in place.
