It was a near-miss last week by a plane that flew out of Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and a nerve-wracking few minutes for passengers that ended with a 'phew.'

A Delta pilot said he had to make an "aggressive maneuver" to avoid colliding with a B-52 bomber as his plane approached Minot International Airport in North Dakota on Friday.

Officials with Delta say the flight had originated from the Twin Cities and the plane landed without incident.

After the maneuver, the pilot apologized to all passengers for his actions while explaining what happened.

"Long story short, it was not fun and I do apologize for it and thank you for understanding," the pilot announced on the flight.

B-52 bombers are stationed at the Minot Air Force Base.  Air Force officials confirm a B-52 on Friday was performing a flyover above the North Dakota State Fairgrounds, which is adjacent to Minot's airport.

The announcement from the pilot was recorded by Monica Green, who was a passenger on the plane.
