Beef prices may be sky-high, but no stores are going to be honoring the five-finger discount.
Case in point -- the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office says it arrested a man Wednesday with hundreds of dollars in stolen meat, some of it stuffed down his pants.
Deputies were called when store employees in Denham Springs noticed the man, identified by the Sheriff's office as 57-year-old Michael Ardoin, leaving empty-handed, then coming back into the store again.
The workers were able to give a description of the suspect's vehicle, and deputies pulled over a black Honda with no license plate on Range Ave. near I-12.
Police say they found packs of ground beef and ribeye steaks in the suspect's car.
Ardoin faces felony theft charges, which the sheriff's office says is a result of multiple previous theft convictions.
The sheriff's office says the merchandise was returned to the stores, but the meat cannot be put back on sale, and will have to be destroyed.
