KANSAS CITY - The Kansas Department of Health says guests at a hotel in the southwest part of the state could have been exposed to measles earlier this month.
The location of the potential exposure was the Clarion Inn at 1911 E Kansas Ave in Garden City, on the dates of April 8th, 9th and 10th.
The measles virus can stay in the air and on surfaces for up to two hours. Because the measles virus is highly contagious, anyone who visited the Clarion Inn in Garden City on any of the dates listed may have been exposed to measles and should monitor themselves for the next 21 days, watching for symptoms including a fever or a new or unexplained skin rash.
For questions, contact the KDHE Epidemiology Hotline by phone at 877-427-7317 (option 5) or by email at kdhe.epihotline@ks.gov.
There have been 37 measles cases confirmed thus far with this Kansas outbreak in eight counties. Prior to this year, there hadn't been a measles case in the state since 2018.
