
KANSAS CITY - A Rose Hill couple accused in the death of their adopted daughter, Kennedy, 6, made their first appearance in court on Wednesday.
The child was found buried in the family’s backyard last September.
Crystina Schroer, 50, was charged with first-degree murder, three counts of child abuse, making false information, theft by welfare fraud, Medicaid fraud, failure to report the disappearance or death of a child, and criminal desecration.
Her preliminary hearing is set for March 12th, and bond was set at $250,000.
Joseph Schroer, 53, is charged with 2 counts of aggravated endangering a child, making false information, Medicaid fraud, and interference with law enforcement.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 18th. with his bond set at $10,000.
The couple was arrested on Monday after a lengthy investigation that lasted nearly five months.
