KANSAS CITY – The owner of the Kansas City Royals is promising fans a decision about a new ballpark comes this summer.

Royals Owner John Sherman says his club aims to have clarity on their future home by late June or early July.

The coming clarity comes after the Royals initial plan to build downtown in the Crossroads Art District was derailed when voters rejected a sales-tax extension last April. That setback prompted broader negotiations, including talks with Missouri officials and consideration of sites outside Jackson County.

While Washington Square Park near Union Station has been mentioned as a possibility, Sherman is remaining tight-lipped about specific locations. The team is studying stadium developments in other cities, like Atlanta and Nashville, to inform their approach.
