KANSAS CITY - Sedgwick County Commissioners voted to amend county code related to solid waste.

The resolution will now allow construction and demolition material to be accepted at all transfer stations for proper disposal.

When the county developed their solid waste code over 20 years ago, hazardous waste or construction and demolition waste wasn't accepted at any transfer station. That was done to promote the development of construction and demolition landfills. Now there are two such landfills in the county.

Commissioners also amended the city of Wichita's 2035 urban growth map and future growth concept maps.
