KANSAS CITY - A sports bar dedicated to women's teams is expanding to St. Louis. The Sports Bra got its start in Portland and has announced plans to add locations in Boston, Indianapolis, St. Louis, and Las Vegas.

KMOX's Megan Lynch talked about the trend this morning on Total Information AM with Axios Kansas City Reporter Travis Meier. "There's seemingly an explosion of these women's sports bars that are opening. They're specifically sports bar for women's sports. They're playing a majority women's sports on their TV's." Listen at the link below.

Meier points out, traditional sports bars don't often show equal women's and men's sports. "You have these really, really great women's teams. A ton of attention, viewership, money, pouring into these pro women's sports, but you don't have the equal airtime in a lot of places." He says these bars are networking to figure out the best ways to provide video feeds to patrons, because they're always available in one cable package, for example.

Meier adds one big hurdle for female sports establishments is convincing banks to provide start-up funds.
