The Caldwell Police Department in Sumner County is investigating after multiple unknown devices were found inside city limits Saturday morning.

Around 8:30 a.m., officers were called to the 100 block of south Main Avenue. Officers immediately closed the surrounding area to limit the risk to citizens.

The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office, the Wichita Police Department Bomb Squad, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Caldwell EMS and the Caldwell Fire Department investigated the device and its potential to be explosive. The WPD Bomb Squad neutralized the device.

Two similar devices were found at separate locations in Caldwell: one in the 100 block of south Chisholm Avenue, and the other in the 100 block of north Arapahoe. Police say all three devices will be examined further. They are asking anyone in the area to review home or business surveillance video in hopes of identifying the person or people responsible.
