KANSAS CITY - Police have arrested a 50-year-old Wichita woman connected to a four-year-old girl who accidentally shot herself.
Officers responded around 1:50 Friday afternoon to the 2500 block of E. Harry to the report of that shooting. They found the young victim had sustained a single gunshot wound to her lower torso. She was immediately transported to a local hospital and was last listed in critical condition.
Police say the child's guardian left a firearm unsecured. The girl found it and unintentionally shot herself.
The woman was arrested for aggravated child endangerment. The case will be presented to the District Attorney for formal charges.
