Albert Pujols certainly knows how to seize a moment.

The future Hall of Fame slugger returned to Busch Stadium on Tuesday in what may be the final series of his career in St. Louis, where he spent his prime years.

The Cardinals faithful gave Pujols, who was batting third for the Dodgers, a loud ovation as he came to the plate in the first inning as he tipped his helmet to the fans to show his appreciation.

But Pujols had one more gift up his sleeve and provided the fans at Busch Stadium a familiar sight.

The 41-year-old turned on an 89-mph sinker from J.A. Happ and crushed a frozen rope over the left field fence for a home run — the 679th of his career.

Cardinals fans rose to their feet and cheered Pujols some more for the home run despite putting their team that is fighting for a playoff spot in a 1-0 hole.

Pujols has not made any official decision on whether or not this will be his final season, although many suspect he will indeed hang em up once the season ends.

If so, this was quite the special moment for Pujols and Cardinals fans as he was able to provide one last hurrah at the place he called home for the first 11 years of his career.
