Sometimes, the baseball gods can be especially cruel.

As the Los Angeles Angels attempted to loosen things up in hopes of snapping a 13-game losing streak, each one of their players walked up to a song by Nickelback in Wednesday evening's game against the Boston Red Sox.
Shohei Ohtani, the reigning American League MVP, led off and used "Photograph," perhaps the most well known and consistently mocked song by Nickelback:
Courtesy of MLB.com's Sarah Wexler, here's a full look at what songs the rest of the starting lineup walked up to:
- Jo Adell - “Rockstar”
- Jared Walsh - “How You Remind Me”
- Matt Duffy - “Someday”
- Juan Lagares - “If Today Was Your Last Day”
- Brandon Marsh - “When We Stand Together”
- Jack Mayfield - “What Are You Waiting For?”
- Kurt Suzuki - “This Afternoon”
- Tyler Wade - “Animals”
While players typically get a chance to pick their walk-up music before each homestand, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West -- via MLB.com -- seemed to believe that this decision came from staff assistant Tim Buss.
Unfortunately, the attempt to improve the vibe of the team didn't lead to their first win since May 24. Instead, the Angels lost 1-0 to the Red Sox for the second time in three days. This marked the third time that the Angels have been shut out during this losing streak, and their 14th consecutive loss overall. The Angels are 0-2 since Phil Nevin replaced Joe Maddon as the manager.
The Angels were without three-time American League MVP Mike Trout Wednesday evening, as he's dealing with a left groin injury that has left his status as day-to-day. At 27-31, the Angels are in danger of wasting another peak year from Trout and Ohtani.
