Philadelphia Phillies catcher JT Realmuto was placed on the COVID-related injured list on Thursday, the team announced.

Realmuto did not test positive for the virus, according to manager Joe Girardi, who reportedly suggested the two-time All-Star had a "stomachache and small fever" and had been sidelined as a precaution.

"All his tests are fine," Girardi told reporters prior to the Phillies' Thursday afternoon game against the Nationals in Washington, according to ESPN. "You can't let someone with a stomachache and a small fever walk around your clubhouse today In a normal year, you wouldn't worry about it, but you can't do that now."

The Phillies called up backup catcher Rafael Marchan from Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding roster move.

Realmuto, 30, missed the Phillies' game on Wednesday with what the team called knee soreness after he exited Tuesday's game when he absorbed a foul tip. The former Marlin has been on pace for a career year in the early going, hitting a robust .314/.418/.520 with four home runs through his first 122 plate appearances.

The Oklahoma native set a new MLB contract record for a catcher when re-signed with the Phils on a five-year, $115M pact.
