Martinez, who was forced from Sunday's game after spraining his left ankle after tripping over second base on his way out to take his position in right field, is not on the roster submitted by the Red Sox.

Without the presence of Martinez, the Red Sox' options at designated hitter have been likely narrowed to Travis Shaw, Kyle Schwarber and Christian Vazquez.

Alex Cora said Monday his lineup against Yankees starter Gerrit Cole will include Christian Arroyo at second base, putting Kiké Hernandez in center field.

The Sox are going with 12 pitchers, which will include lefty Josh Taylor, who has been sidelined with a back ailment. Fellow southpaw Darwinzon Hernandez is not in the mix, with Austin Davis getting the nod as the other lefty reliever.
