On Friday Andy Bunker and Randy McMichael reacted to a report from Sam Amick of The Athletic that the Atlanta Hawks are willing to listen to trade offers for John Collins.
“It’s a really interesting decision they (Atlanta Hawks) have to make," said Andy. "You can trade him in the season but if the Hawks trade John Collins right now, they’re terrible. they’re bad. Like they’re not going to win any games. They thought with all the depth and all the stuff they picked up in the offseason and the progression of some of these other guys they’d be able to maybe see where they are at and maybe deal with it. Thanks to injuries and some guys not progressing, they can’t afford to not have John Collins on the court right now.
The Hawks are 11-13 and have been plagued with injuries, most recently Atlanta lost De'Andre Hunter after the forward underwent knee surgery. Bogdan Bogdanovic is also out for a while with a knee injury.
“They (Hawks) got an option there (at Power Forward) if they do (trade Collins) but Gallinari (Danilo Gallinari) is not where he needs to be. I don’t think Gallinari is a better player than John Collins. I think he is a better shooter but not a better player,” Randy added.
“A 100 percent healthy Gallinari isn’t better than John Collins,” Andy added.
